CRUISIN' WITH

YELLOWSTONE 2009

Day 7
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9
It was another incredible day yesterday.  It started at what's come to be our favorite breakfast place
here in Cody, the Sunrise House.  We met a man named Jay Ward from Cody (no, not the Bullwinkle
Jay Ward), who's a longtime hunter, author and producer of hunting films, one of which he showed
in Chippewa Falls some years ago.  We had the pleasure of meeting a couple more of the "breakfast
geezers", who get together in every town in America to solve the problems of the universe each
morning.
After breakfast, we went to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center.  I was certain it had changed in the
twenty-five years since my last visit, but WOW!  The BBHC has certainly grown in size, in exhibits,
and in stature in the museum community.
After a full morning, we headed back to Yellowstone National Park for one more afternoon.  As we
sat in line, awaiting our turn to enter the park, a man came to the car, saying he'd had to come
through the park on his way to Cody, and had to pay the $25.00 park entry fee (which is good for 7
days).  He offered to give it to us, free.  As it happened we didn't need it, but what a kind thing to
offer a total stranger!  We seem to run into the nicest people, wherever we go.
Once again, it was near dark when we dragged our weary selves back to the motel.
We took quite a few photos yesterday, and we intend to share many of them with you, but not today.
Frankly, we're just bushed, and we wanted to have a little time just for ourselves last night, before
we hit the road again for another long day of travel.  Today, we leave Cody, heading back toward
home, by way of Greybull, Ten Sleep and the rest of Wyoming, planning to overnight in Rapid City,
wondering what adventures await us and what new friends we will make.  It's been a grand trip so
far, but we're getting homesick.  Oh, one more thing: tomorrow's Betty Lee's birthday.
Thanks for stopping by the website.  We'll talk to you soon.

No stay in Cody would be
complete without a visit to the
Buffalo Bill Historical Society
Museum. Comfy shoes and
ample time are a priority. The
art is amazing.
Will the real Annie Oakley please stand up. Well, that would be the
little lady on the right. That's her TV ulter-ego, Gail Davis.
The Remington Museum is located in the Buffalo Bill
Historical Society building.
Big guns, little guns, medium size guns. Rifles,
pistols, and anything connected to guns or
gunsmithing.
These aren't the Lady Remington's I remembered.
There are may displays of Pioneer living and the
Native American culture. Wildlife displays so real you
walked softly as to not disturb the bears.
No, Jay, you didn't forget anything...that the
smell from the sulfur cauldron and
mud volcano. Talk about bad breath.
Didn't seem to bother the buffalo, as we saw a
rather large one meandering through the
crowd of tourists at the observation area.
The great fire of 1988 is still very evident.
Nature has a way of pruning and renewing, but, sometimes it
takes a long time.

When you are in the park, you will notice a lot of warning signs.
Best to heed the signs as not to end up as some
bear's dinner of find yourself at the bottom of a
very cold river.
Mother Nature supplies these spectacular view.
Take time to admire her handiwork.
