Just about at trail's end now. Last night was our last night on the road, and we should be
back home in our little house sometime this afternoon. This trip was a vacation. At least,
that's the way we planned it. And it was one we'll always cherish. For me, it was a return
to a place where I'd learned a lot, met some incredibly kind and generous people, who
taught me so many things about the Western lifestyle. It's also been a reminder that some
things in our past are best left as fond memories (for instance: the food you remember so
fondly at your favorite eateries 25 years ago seldom passes the test of time). For Sherry,
it was her first visit to Yellowstone, Sunlight Basin and much else that she'd not seen
before. For both of us, there have been numerous heart-warming surprises, interesting
conversations, and lots of laughter. We are reminded again that, no matter who we are or
where we're from, we're all in this together. The values so treasured by these people "out
West" are little different from our own in Wisconsin. Sadly, though, most of them don't
know about cheese curds.
Thank you all for your good wishes on our trip. We'll see you Monday morning.

There's a lot of South Dakota, and most of it looks
just like this. It just seems to go on forever.
And for those of us who cannot go on forever,
this becomes our favorite sign.
Our only tourist trappy stop was
at Wall Drug. Had to tie Dixie to
the hitching post.
I turned my back for a moment, and there's Sherry, cuddling up to some old
geezer. She said her glasses were dirty, and she thought it was me. Then, she
was taking my photo, and some guy walked up to me and said, "Isn't your wife
gonna be jealous?" I pointed at Sherry with the camera and told him, "That's
my wife, getting evidence for the lawyer." Sherry said, "I'm not worried. Mine
are real." The guy laughed so hard I was afraid he'd have a vaporlock.
