Aaachooo!  God Bless you.
The breakfast of champions.
On the car next to ours at the
motel.  Good advice when you
are about to head out, going 75.
Another beautiful day, but way
windy.  How windy?  They had
to lock the biffy building doors,
so they wouldn't slam open.
North Dakota gives good biffy,
too.  Don't see too many in the
median strip like this.  Got you
coming and going.
Windy?  Same car, same
highway as day 1, but add 40
mph headwind.
Still here, and, sadly, still the
homeliest girl in North Dakota.
This would be about a par
four, right?  No mulligans.
SURF'S UP, DUDE!
Adjacent to one of the North
Dakota biffy stops...is this
where all those little Easter
ducks came from?
It's really true that we have nicer biffies
than most countries have houses.  Makes
you proud to have a pit stop.
Back on the road again.  Talk about your BIG
SKY, and we're not even in Montana yet. Lots
of rain here this year, and the rock crop is
already looking HUGE!
We stopped in Bismarck at Troll's Cafe
to have lunch with longtime listener and
new friend Loren Omlid, who was
turned on to the show by his Moose
Country sisters, Barb Richards and
Linda Goettl, who also helped us locate
the Fleischkuekle and the Kugen.
Sherry told us to say "Fleischkuekle"
for the photo, and we did.
We had Knoephla soup, Feischkuekle, the Kugen for
dessert.  Wunderbar!  Thanks for a great lunch, Loren.
Heading West from Bismarck, past
another fine town Jay got thrown out of,
to yet another biffie stop.
Our next stop was Medora, in the heart of the North Dakota
Badlands, and on into the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
Just looking around Medora.  See
what happens when your dogs get
too much iron in their diet?
A working sheepherder's
wagon, and a model of TR's
ranch house.  Wanna go up to
the cabin  and remodel some
this weekend?
Then, heading West out of
Medora, ever Westward to
Montana.
Thought for a while it might rain.  How does that old
song go..."Let a smile be your umbrella, if you like to
gargle rain?"  Something like that.
Right down the Interstate...just
like home.
Eastern Montana, at last, on
the way to Glendive.
Okay...all in favor of camping
here for the night say
"Aaahhh."  Right, the
"aaahhhs" have it.  Good night.
And the world's largest Holstein
is still at New Salem.
