Thirteenth Leg
CHEESEHEAD CHICKEN RUN - 2011
(Pioneer Village Bluegrass Festival)
THORNS & ROSES, a
new band to us, and
most enjoyable.
THE TEMPORARY
STRING BAND was there
for their 5th year.
HIGHWAY 52
BLUEGRASS BAND,
whom we'd seen at the
Ladysmith Festival were
on hand, and they'll be at
the Buffalo River Valley
Bluegrass Gospel Festival.
THE SEEGER BOYS, one
of the most talented groups
of young people you'd ever
hope to hear.  Great to see
and hear them again.
THE CABIN DWELLERS
always put on a great
show, and we were
delighted to see our
friends again.
THE RIVER CITY
RAMBLERS were there,
and we saw something we
don't recall seeing before.
Banjo picker Andy actually
smiled...more than once.
Saturday, July 16, up
in the morning the
subtle melody of a
bunch of guys pruning
and mulching trees. So
much rain, we were
fearful about the music
festival being delayed.
But we kept swimming
upstream to Cameron.
The farther North we
went, the more sun we
found waiting for us.
Trump checked out the
local wildlife, and, then
wisely staked out his seat.
Just about all of these
chairs were filled for the
festival, and there were
many more, plus some
people brought their own.
We wandered around the
buildings, looking at the
exhibits.  In the boat
building we met Bill Heino,
one of the many friendly
and knowledgeable folks
who volunteer at the
museum.  Bill has some
great stories.  Talk to him.
The Home Roasted Coffee
folks were there and added
to the door prizes.
Jimmer Glaser, who plays
stand-up bass for the Cabin
Dwellers, had some of his
yard cutouts there.
John and Rose Vincent of
Offbeats Violin and Guitar
Studio were there with their
wares.  John makes both
violins and guitars, and both
Rose and John give lessons.
Jerry Zebro, lead guitar for the Cabin
Dwellers, was also our extraordinary
sound man for the day again this year.
An excellent crowd on hand, and
all were well-behaved, regardless
of the number of feet they had.
Before the scheduled bands got
underway, there was an "open mike"
session, during which anyone who
wants to sing or play may do so.
Once again, it was a great day, filled with Bluegrass
music.  We saw a lot of old friends, made some
new friends, had a great lunch and a real down-
home foot-stompin' good time.  Can't wait till next
year.
