SHAKE, RATTLE, & ROLL RUN
Chapter 13 - There's no place like HOME!
Saddle up, and
away we go...last
leg home.
Yeah, watch 'em, especially
if they drive
Hmmm...
usually see
these things
in herds.
Where's
Don
Quixote,
when you
need him?
Ah, there they are...the rest of the herd.
Hmm, kind of a seed-y looking
outfit. Now, now, don't get corny on
us, OK?
So, yesterday, we left our good friends, Cliff
and Donna Hannah, in Lake Junaluska, just a
few miles from Cliff's hometown of Clyde,
NC.  We stopped in LeRoy, IL, for gas,
gawked at the big plastic bad wolf, and Jay
noticed a car in front of him from North
Carolina.  Asked the gentleman where he
was from.  He
said, "Out in the western part of the state,
west of Asheville."  Jay asked, "Anywhere
near Clyde."  Guy says, "I'm from Clyde.
That's where I live."
Meet Ben and Clarine Best, of
Clyde, NC. Ben says Cliff Hannah
was a great radio announcer.
Clarine says her brother, Dallas
Green, is a good friend of Cliff's.
So, we
phoned Cliff and played, "Guess
who we ran into on the way
home?"  Way Cool small world,
full of wonderful surprises.
Meanwhile, Sherry saw this camper, made in Forest River, in the People's Republic
of Minnesota.  It is so light, an ordinary car can pull it.  Complete kitchen and all.
Back on the road, and the sign was right. It was "sl-o-o-o-w-w-w" for quite a while.
Saw more orange cones than Dreamsicle day at Culver's"
Oversize load?  We thought we might see
Rosie O'Donnel up ahead somewhere.
Paw Paw...Tommy Tiger says
they're still two paws short.  We
couldn't explain it to him.  Oh, well.
Tommy Tiger led us
to a Culver's, way
out in the middle of
the  prairie, just in
time for lunch.
Real signs that we're getting close
to escaping from Elanoise, passing
romantic Love's Park and getting
ready to pay our ransom to leave
here.
Our next to last biffy stop, near Mad City.  Tommy was wondering if that truck was
named after him.  We were thinking, "Yeah, sleep zone ahead! As soon as we get
home, gonna make some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz."
One last stop, take on some fuel, a snack, one more trip to the you-know-what,
and, a little later, HOME, SWEET HOME.  It has been one of our best trips ever,
and we hope you got some sense of what it was like.  But, as always, the best part
was coming home.  We saw some of God's most beautiful creations ...landscape
and people...but none better than right here at our home.
